Gerina Stevenson is a native of Mexico as the daughter of Mexican parents Alan Stevenson and Rita Stevenson. Stevenson is Mexican and American. She has always been an avid sportsperson. Gerina began playing golf at the age of fifteen. Gerina was a student at Goddard High School. The school won the New Mexico State Golf Tournament in her high school years. She played volleyball and also competed in state competitions. In the year 2003 she enrolled at The University of Texas. Through her senior year she was the winner of every competition she played in. Through her college time, she was awarded as the conference's best player of year as well as UTEP Female Athletic of the Year.
